BSR held its first AGM on Monday 15th Feb 2010 in the Buccleuch Arms. St Boswells. At this AGM, the first official Board of Directors was elected, namely, Drew Todd, Angela Jackson, John Wright , Anthony Barlow, Andrew Haddon and Alastair Cranston. Following this the first official BSR Board Meeting was held on 16th April 2010. Drew Todd was unanimously elected Chair Person, Angela Jackson as Secretary and Alastair Cranston as Business Manager /Organizer. These positions will remain in place until the second BSR AGM following next BSR Financial Year End, 31 August 2010. the. CVs (Personally contributed) :
Drew Todd
Born Kelso 1950. Ex soldier, teacher and senior local government officer for The Moray Council, Drew took early retirement in 2000. During his extensive career in education, he has acted as a practitioner, and as an adviser on both policy and practice to local government, The Scottish Executive and through his membership of the Service Childrens’ Education Authority, the United Kingdom government. He is presently a member of the Scottish Executives Cross Party Working Group on Co-operatives.
Angela Jackson
BSc Hons Accounting and Financial Management. Worked for 7 years for KPMG as Auditor and Office Administrator. Also, Personal Assistant to the Chief Executive in various organisations, including Bank of America NT & SA, Bank of Boston, NHS Executive and Scottish Natural Heritage. Office Administrator for The Borders professional rugby team from startup to disbandment. Lifelong interest in rugby, equestrianism and Borders community.
John Wright
Associate and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Ireland. A Past President of the latter and a Past Vice President of the Scottish Institute. Chief Executive of Clydesdale & Yorkshire Banks for 3 years prior to retirement. A visiting Professor at the Glasgow University School of Business. Conducts Workshops on Exporting, Leadership, Change Management and Strategic Planning. A Non Executive Director with Roles across Banking, Retailing, Manufacturing, Information Technology and Trusts.
Anthony Barlow
Studied Engineering at the University of Edinburgh and his commercial background is in Information Technology. He has worked in organisations such as Eli Lilly, Computacenter and the Royal Bank of Scotland and is currently Managing Director of EBS Europe in Peebles. EBS Europe is a market leader in Web Technologies and has developed Inforgen (web based trading and resource planning software). The product is now being used by over one hundred and fifty customers across Europe.
Andrew Haddon
Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and Past President of the Scottish Branch of the Public Sector Society of Accountants. Director of Finance with Borders College for seventeen years and past Chair of the Directors of Finance in Further Education. Currently leading sector development of a Procurement Strategy for Further Education Colleges in Scotland. Member of the BPI working group with Procurement Scotland. Member of working groups with APUC
( Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges). Previously held positions on several working Groups with the Scottish Funding Council. Currently Working with Perth College UHI as the Finance Manager with responsibility for Procurement Development and Measurement.
Alastair Cranston
Former Scottish Rugby internationalist, farmer and contractor, facilitated the formation of the first effectively operating (Borders) Machinery Ring in Scotland and the British Isles in 1987. Was BMR Manager from inception in 1987 to 2002. From 2002 until 2005 he was the CEO of the Borders Pro rugby Team. From 2005 until the present time he has developed Smeddum Ltd as a Sports, Tourism and Environmental Agency – which has included the feasibility into and the setting up to Launch stage of the Borders Sports Ring. Currently a Director of Borders Machinery Ring and Member of the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on Co-operatives.
