A precedent has been set in the Borders where a group of clubs have set up a sponsored bus for affiliated clubs which meets all legislative criteria, saves clubs' transport costs – but clearly because of numbers, still requires Coach Companies to provide most of their group’s transport requirements.

BSR, however, can make use of the proven concept to examine the feasibility of such an arrangement within other club groups in the Borders. Most importantly, there will always be the need to engage with existing coach/minibus operators/hirers to provide the majority of clubs’ transport requirements. The ideal is a mutually beneficial working provision of the community and privately provided club transport services.
