Recycling and Renewable Energy options in the community and businesses is all about cost. Principles of being eco-friendly take up time in discussion – but the bottom line never goes far away. Combining the ability to demonstrate measurable sustainable credentials with having the option to become part of a Community organisation, which can literally deliver recyclables is what BSR is about.
The public sector is handled under evolving legislation by the Local Authorities as part of the National Waste Strategy. The business sector is the marketplace for waste management companies and Council DLOs who can deliver solutions – at a price. Landfill tax and fuel price increases will ensure that this will become an increasingly competitive marketplace.
Sorting, segregation and space utilisation prior to transport to a recycling outlet are all a factor of cost related to labour, space availability, quantity and evermore crucially – distance from the recycling facility. BSR seeks to sort, segregate and package recyclable waste on a community and business-business level - especially among SMEs. Once packaged in baled, dumpy-bagged, compress binned form, local approved intermediate stations will accumulate economic loads to be delivered at minimum achievable cost to the nearest recycler.
The key is Local Authority, Community and Business collaboration, co-operation, use of developing technology to compress, bale and pack - so that the transport of air in an ever increasing fuel cost spiral is reduced as far as possible. The benefit in reducing the carbon footprint will have an impact on the environment and ultimately on the Government, Community and Business cost.
BSR, registered in 2007 as an Industrial and provident Society, ensures that Community Participation and Accountability are at the forefront of all BSR’s future Strategy and subsequent Actions.
